Impinj RFID Antenna Hub

Hi,

I was looking for an RFID reader that supports a larger number of antennas and I ran across the Impinj Antenna Hub which works with the Speedway revolution readers. According to the documentation this would allow up to 32 antennas to be connected to the reader at a single time. I was just wondering if this antenna hub is supported in ClearStream, and if so, has any one had any experience setting one up?

Thanks.

Hi Jared,

Yes, ClearStream RFID supports the Impinj Antenna Hub. We have actually tested it here in our offices. All you need to do is hook up all the hubs and antennas you would like to use to your Impinj Speedway RFID Reader, and then enable this option using the reader's web interface. After you have this hooked up you really don't need to do anything configuration wise within ClearStream. Simply have fun configuring all 32 antennas you have hooked up to your reader :)

most rfid reader with antenna can support antenna hub.
if it can not match, you can slightly change the antenna interface to match it.
the only problem is the technology issue.

Yes ! the Impinj Antenna Hub is supported in ClearStream RFID, and people have confirmed that it works when used with Impinj Speedway Revolution readers. Essentially you set up the hub and antennas on the reader, and then ClearStream can manage them without special additional configuration.

A few practical details worth knowing if you’re considering this setup:

Impinj Antenna Hub basics
The Impinj Speedway Antenna Hub lets you expand the number of antennas connected to a single reader. With the appropriate GPIO adapter and multiple hubs, you can have up to 32 antennas on one Speedway R420 reader, or fewer depending on the model (e.g., 8 per hub, 4 hubs = 32).

ClearStream compatibility
ClearStream RFID has native support for Impinj readers that speak standard protocols like LLRP, and the Antenna Hub can be used with those readers. Once the reader and hub are connected and enabled in the reader’s interface, ClearStream doesn’t require extra configuration specific to the hub — you configure antennas within ClearStream as you would normally.

In practice:
  • Connect the Antenna Hub(s) to your Speedway reader (R420/R220/R120 as appropriate).
  • Enable the antenna expansion in the reader firmware/web interface.
  • Then Continuous Stream (ClearStream) will see all connected antennas via the reader and let you configure them in the software.

The hub lets you build larger read zones or support many distinct antenna points for industrial tracking, warehouse portals, or smart environments.
